Stuff Happening Now

My poem “Second Avenue” is in the inaugural issue of NY____.“–a new magazine about the things that make New York New York.” The theme of the first issue, which you can buy online here, is apartments. I just got my contributor copy in the mail and it looks really great; in addition to poetry and prose, there’s also some really terrific photography.

In other happy news–I recently heard from the editors of Stirring: A Literary Collection that they’ve nominated my poem “Bluebeard” for a Pushcart. Sasha Debevec-McKenney, my good friend and fellow graduate of the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts’ Creative Writing program, has also been nominated for her poem, “Converting”–which you can read here at Mixed Fruit.

And finally, I’ll have three new poems in Volume 5 of Vinyl Poetry, a great online literary journal of which I am big fan. In the current volume, there are two stunning poems by Patricia Smith as well as a smart, lovely poem by Megan Moriarty that I liked from the title onward: “Don’t Worry, My Dreary Deary”.

Where Am I?
